B I L L I N G & P A Y M E N T S

Humming Tales uses a tuition-based payment plan. This means students do not pay "by the lesson" but rather pay a set monthly tuition fee. The tuition fee is much like a membership fee and allows students (and parents) a repeating lesson time (chosen and reserved just for you), access to their teacher for questions, resources, VIP registration for upcoming trimesters, eligibility for workshops, competitions, festivals, recitals and other events. The education experience at our studio goes far beyond the minutes spent in each actual face-to-face lesson and for that reason we have decided that a tuition system is appropriate. By paying a set monthly tuition, students and their families can feel confident that they are getting the very best education possible on their instrument while supporting their continued success as well as the success of the studio. Tuition-based payments also save hours of behind-the-scenes administrative work for teachers and staff. And the time saved is then invested back into the students whether it be spent teaching, planning, practicing, writing or furthering their education.

Please read the following paragraphs to ensure you fully understand the logistics of the tuition-based payment process and the policies regarding missing a lesson. If you have any questions or concerns at all, please reach out directly to Ketan Jain before signing and committing to these policies. You may reach Ketan Jain by emailing ketan@hummingtales.com.

Commitment to music lessons is made at the beginning of each month. By registering for the next month, you agree to make the payment for that month in advance. Optional: You may choose to pay for a full trimester (Fall: Sep–Dec, Spring: Jan–May, Summer: Jun– Aug) in advance.

If paying for a trimester in full, the tuition payment is due by the first lesson of that trimester. If paying monthly, each monthly instalment is due by the 5th of the month. By registering for a regular lesson time you are committing to pay for that time-slot through the end of that month, or trimester, whichever applicable. Day or time changes or a choice to discontinue lessons does not excuse any student from completing all payments. No refunds will be given.

Any materials given to the student or event registrations will be billed in addition to tuition costs. For families paying monthly, the additional costs will be added to the next month's invoice amount. For those paying in full at the beginning of the trimester, the additional costs will be billed separately as needed and a separate invoice will be sent. Payments for invoices are due by the due date indicated on the invoice.

Holidays and breaks will be determined at the beginning of each trimester or year (with a possible variation of a few weeks) and will be pre-determined by the studio. Tuition rates are thoughtfully calculated and account for holidays and breaks throughout the year.

If a student will be absent from a lesson for any reason, the student may inform the teacher through text, call or email, at least 24 hours prior to the lesson. Individual lessons will not be rescheduled or refunded. Teachers may offer make-up lesson openings on a particular day and time of their choosing. This is dependent on the teacher's schedule and availability. Make-up lessons, if offered, are offered as a courtesy and are never guaranteed. Make-up lessons are not available for "no-shows."

If a teacher cancels a lesson for any reason, the teacher will designate a make-up lesson option. Refunds will not be given, but we will do our best to offer a convenient opportunity to make-up the cancelled lesson. *Trimesters are as follows: Fall (September-December), Spring (January-May) and Summer (June-August).

If a student is unable to make a lesson, they should contact their teacher by text, call or email. Individual lessons may not be rescheduled. Make-up lessons are never guaranteed. No refunds will be given.

If a student is available at their regularly schedule lesson time but is unable to make it to the studio, an online lesson may be substituted if the teacher is informed at least 24 hours in advance of the lesson. This may or may not be applicable for a Group Lesson or Partner Lesson setting, depending on factors such as the student’s ability to concentrate in an online setting, the practicality of setting up the required systems in the classroom, and the nature of the planned activities.

If the teacher is unable to make a lesson, they will contact all students by text, call or email. No refunds will be given. In most cases, a make-up day will be arranged by the teacher. Pre-designated make-up days or events may be offered at the discretion of the teacher but are not guaranteed.

"No-show" absences will not be offered a make-up day. Make-up lessons cannot be re-scheduled once registered. Make-up lessons are offered as a courtesy and are not guaranteed.

T E R M I N A T I O N

If a student wishes to discontinue lessons, they may do so at any time by informing the teacher. However, payment for the full month, or trimester, whichever applicable, is still required. Failure to attend lessons does not excuse payment.

Humming Tales reserves the right to terminate the lessons of any student if the student or a family member acts inappropriately, is excessively absent with no explanation, or if tuition payments are not made on time.
